I have been purchasing coffee makers with the grinder built in for decades. finally decided to get one that is separate because the built in one needed way to much cleaning and all the time it was the grinder part that went south on me. I had every make including breville combo. actually had two of them. wow that was a pain in the butt to clean everyday and only lasted little over a year for them to die. made great coffee but maintenance was way to high. so this time around I got this Breville coffee maker with separate coffee grinder. I was dreading to do the extra step. but after using it for two weeks now I love it. it made the best coffee I ever had. this machine make the coffee in fraction of the time so doing the grinding wasn't an issue. I did get one first and there was a defect so they ended up replace that one for another but it was a painless experience. I love breville products. I have a small oven too from them and we cant live without it. I don't think we use the stove oven any more unless we have to cook a turkey... I haven't tried to cold brew yet but I am every happy with this setup. should have done this long time ago. my only suggestion to everyone is to get a good coffee grinder to go with this coffee maker. update: 02/23/2020 the machine is working great but noticed a heating plate coating is peeling off. i only use wet paper towel to clean this and only thing i can think of is some time coffee grinds can get on the plate. kind of disappointed this is happening. considering it's not a cheap coffee maker and from a great company. update: 05/21/2020 been trying to reach out to the company. no one is out there for service. emails, chat and phone calls. nothing. product over all is great. i just purchased $430 oven from them but no service after the sale. i have to bring down my rating. update: 07/02/2021 ok so as a coffee maker it's great but once again the heating plate coating is coming off. i never use metal pad to clean it so why is it coming off again. this is my second one that is doing this. i replaced one already a year ago. i honestly think it's the manufacture sub contractor that makes these has the issue. it's really disappointing considering this is a not cheap machine. at this point i'm still using it but the rust spot on the heating element is getting bigger everyday. they really should get another company to make these for them. i been a customer for years and they make really good coffee makers but not this model.
Hi I bought this item it’s very nice and I like it
When my Keurig Cafe stopped working, I started using my faithful standby a Melitta drip cup which worked fine, but I missed the auto brew for pre-work mornings. The color caught my eye and combined with a sale, I hit send! It is a beautiful color indeed, but boy is the brew cycle loud. If you like a peaceful start to your morning, and enjoy making that first cup of coffee, this brewer is a rude wake-up! It really sounds like a cheap brand and I am really disappointed with how it sounds. I do hope that the sound is not indicative of how long it will last. I also have an older model at the office and it’s lasted over 5 years. Neither of my earlier models sounded like this. It really took me by surprise!
The first coffee maker we received had liquid inside ( pic 1), so we returned it for a replacement. Today we received the replacement and it also contained liquid inside (pic 2 & 3). So we are returning this one also. It seems like both coffee makers may have already been returned before used and resold as new. Buyer beware.
Bad production run and quality control. The dimple at the bottom is off center. On top of that, the lid was not screwed in property when shipped and I dropped it onto my countertop as I grabbed the lid to pull it out of the box. It almost damaged/ chipped my countertop. Bad quality and product.
When you but cold brew in the store, there's one big difference compared to home-made: filtering. When you make it at home, you have silt - and lot's of it. No matter the method used, without filtering you'll have murky coffee. This one is no different - actually it's a lot worse when it comes to silt. That's because the grounds are constantly in motion, as compared to traditional cold brew where the grounds just sit. I've been doing cold brew at home for almost 10 years and have tried all kinds of methods. So I may ramble here - if you've made cold-brew at home, you'll get it right away. If you're just starting out, hopefully this well help. Traditionally you use 1 oz of coffee for each ounce of water - some like it stronger or weaker, but it's a good start. You add coffee, water, wait, drain. The bottom of the "brewer" will have a bunch of silt. I pour it into a measuring cup, wait about 30 minutes, then pour into a glass bottle. That middle step removes a bunch more silt. When the coffee is all drank, there's about 1/8" of silt remaining mixed with a little coffee - you don't want to drink that. You can purchase filters for the coffee to remove as much of the fine particles (silt) as possible - but each time you do this, you can lose a couple of ounces of coffee as well - absorption into the filter, etc. For small batches it's often not worth it. The Dorothy (as in Wizard of Oz.....tornado....) makes small batches. I tried a variety of quantities of water and found the best to be just over 2 cups of water and 2 ounces of coffee. This is a cup below the maximum line, but all the coffee compresses into the base when done and there's little waste. I tried to the fill line, then added coffee. This raised the level to the top - but nothing spilled over. However it was too much wet coffee grounds and there was almost 6 oz of waste. It was also much messier overall. Best results with the 2/2 combination. I ran it for 30 minutes and it did a nice job. I had to put a damp paper towel over the top because the thing splatters while spinning. Nothing heated up and the Dorothy handled it well, even maxed out. Issues: Splatter. No lid while spinning. Small volume. Very fragile carafe. Instructions could be better. More silt than with traditional cold brew. What I like: Easy to clean. Fast cold brew - you can make a fresh batch for company. Make it strong and it goes further. It's compact - most cold brew pitchers alone are a foot tall - or more. You don't want to store the coffee in the pitcher - it's too delicate and there's no lid. You can spend about two hours and make a weeks supply of cold brew. Most of that time is waiting, and actual "work" is maybe 20 minutes. Cleanup about 10 minutes. Photos: First batch, water and coffee. Splatter after 10 minutes, damp towel for a cover. After 30 minutes and pressing. Final result - just under 2 cups from a start of 2 1/4 cups. Cleanup. Next batch, maxed out. I found sticking in a fork helps break up the clumps in the vortex. The next to photo is the final result. Typical DIY cold brew. Final photo is a supplement to the instructions that I almost missed.
Hace muy buen café, lo que no me gusta es que los cartuchos son un poco caro
The first time I used it, I put a K-cup in it and had a catastrophic failure; the K-cup exploded. I was using a K-cup from a pack of 120, and I have 17 left, so I tried again. Again, I had a catastrophic explosion in the coffee pot, which took me half an hour to clean up. I do not trust this coffee maker. Do not recommend.
This item is a great choice for a quality coffee maker. The Braun coffee maker is a good product with great features. It has numerous size options to pick from depending in what brew you like. If you in a need of a quick cup or have friends over and require a few cups it can handle all. It is super easy to add water and coffee and clean the filter as well. My 2 favorite features are the cold brew option and the stop drip option. I am huge about a good quality cold brew and this one delivers. Quick easy and full of flavor. The other item that surprised was the stop drip option to prevent from making a mess. The only 2 negatives that i rated this a 4 star is 1 it beeps very loud and no option to change the volume setting and 2 if placed below top cabinets its hard to add water or coffee without moving the machine due to height clearance. Otherwise a great machine!
This coffee maker is by far one of the best we have used. It's extremely easy to use, to brew a pot of coffee It's literally 5 minutes the quickest we have ever had. The taste is awesome. My husband absolutely loves the espresso pods that you can use in this.
A really good coffee, tea maker. I love the different temperature setting. The size is your course depends on where you are putting it. It was a gift and she loves it. The chose i made to buy was a good one.
This works great to make iced coffee! Got ground coffee as a Christmas present but can’t get a good cup with my Keurig because the My K-cup only takes 2 tbls of coffee and the coffee mfg suggests 4 tbls to 12 oz water! The filter works great since you can put the suggested amount of coffee in it. I left it in the frig for around 12 hrs like the instructions say, took out the filter and had a great mug of cold coffee! My only complaint is that it’s not actually 64oz (8cups) like it says (even with the filter out). It lacks 3/4 of a cup to make 64oz! Love that it comes with the filter and the cleaning brush!
The system is great as a whole, but do not order the Thermal Carfe. I bought this in June and six months later it came apart. I put in a warranty request, but have not heard back from Hamilton Beach. I will update when I do hear back.
Want to learn how to make a great pour-over coffee? this kit has what you need. Large glass can make up to 7 cups. The metal filter is well made but could use some ports at the bottom of the cone, you tend to have some water that just sits there. The scoop is well made but you can see welding marks pretty clearly, so could be refined. Overview, it's a great kit for daily use. But not the top line product, could use refinement and polishing.
It gets 5 stars for design/looks. Fits my house perfectly and looks good next to my Smeg toaster. But, it isn't the easiest to use (I’d have to explain to someone how to turn it on-not user friendly) and it’s true what some reviews say about not being able to pour all of the water out of the pot into the machine. Only giving it 3 stars For those reasons and because I’ve only had it a few months and barely touched the tip of the pot with another glass and it shattered!! Partially my fault, but it’s not like I dropped it! See photo. Super bummed. I was able to order another replacement on coffeemakers.us.com for $31, but it’s not prime so no coffee for a week or so while I wait for it to arrive :(
